In TCR 2.0, the Collectors have had quite a big change. While they still operate the same and at the same rate (minor balance changes for higher MK versions on harder difficulties), one new mechanic added to them has dramatically changed how they can be used, and this is the introduction to Sky, Light, and Weather. If you've ever used a solar panel mod, chances are most of this is already familiar to you, but for those who haven't, the collectors now behave exactly like a solar panel would, requiring access to direct sunlight with no blocks above it, and while the night time did affect Collectors before, this was bypassed by using glowstone which you can no longer do. As well as this, Collectors will operate at half the rate when it's raining, and a quarter of the rate when it's storming, meaning that early game collectors will definitely be more of a passive thing than a main focus, however this new mechanic can be bypassed using two items, the Volcanite Amulet and the Watch of Flowing Time. Both of these items have been changed to allow one mechanic to be bypassed, Volcanite Amulet allows Collectors to bypass the weather mechanic, and Watch of Flowing Time allows Collectors to bypass the night system, depending on the mode.
